The SUPERKIDS Writing Program teaches Kindergarten students basic mechanics and aspects of the writing process, as well as how to write narratives, opinions, informative/explanatory texts and more. With writing instruction in every unit, children grow tremendously as writers throughout the school year. Most children begin Kindergarten not yet able to read or write. In early lessons, students learn to communicate through drawing. As they learn letter-sound correspondences, they are expected to apply this knowledge in their writing. Phonetic spelling is encouraged when they are writing words with letter-sounds not yet taught. By the end of the school year, most Kinders are able to write 2-4 sentences independently.
